Grogged white stoneware, wheel-thrown. Porcelain lid, modeled by hand. Made during my stay in artistic residency at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park.
Hi, I LOVE these. I am in my final year of my university and I am creating a series of sculptural objects which one of them is ceramic. It would be really helpful if I can learn how to get this speckled effect? I have grogged white stoneware clay but it doesn’t have black speckles like yours, is it done by the glaze? It would be lovely if you can give me insight on how you made these a little bit more! – Anna
Hello Anna, the speckled effect is a consequence of the type o clay I used. For this particular project I used a white grogged Japanese clay, and the black spots are from the mineral composition of the grog. I hope it helps you. Good luck with your project !
